Overview
This three day program helps participants in staff or support roles to shift from being a "pair of hands" order filler, to a more highly leveraged role as a consultant. It is an ideal workshop for Human Resource, Information Technology and Accounting professionals. It is also a great program for external consultants, who wish to improve their business and client development skills.
In particular, participants will learn a five-step consulting model that will map a process for defining business problems that are truly worth solving. The importance of managing client expectations and agreements, questioning strategies, setting limits, assessing risk and facilitating successful change are all discussed. Case studies and simulations help participants practice new skills and receive feedback.
Prior to the program, participants complete a Consulting Skills Profile feedback instrument that provides specific feedback on their consulting skills from those who work with them. Information related to this instrument is woven throughout the seminar discussions to illustrate how an understanding of consulting strengths and challenges can be used to improve performance as an internal consultant.
Finally, each participant brings a "real life" consulting challenge to the course. These situations are developed into video-taped case studies so that participants can develop strategies and solutions to current consulting concerns.
Important Note
To meet the timing needs and time constraints of our clients, this course can be offered as an intact 3 day program or it can be offered in one day segments.
